Abstract

Chlorinated hydrocarbons are stabilised against the accumulation of acid by the incorporation of from 0,01% to approximately 2% by weight of oxacyclobutane or an alkyl substituted oxacyclobutane. Specified chlorinated hydrocarbons are trichloroethylene and perchloroethylene. A preferred stabliser is 3,3-dimethyl oxacyclobutane. Conventional stabilisers such as N-methyl pyrrole may be present.ALSO:Chlorinated hydrocarbon solvents are stabilized against the accumulation of acid by the incorporation of from 0.01% to approximately 2% by weight of oxacyclobutane or an alkyl substituted oxacyclobutane. Specified solvents are trichloroethylene and perchloroethylene. A preferred stabilizer is 3,3-dimethyl oxacyclobutane. Conventional stabilizers such as N-methyl pyrrole may be present.
