Abstract
870,828. Testing fuel injectors. GOTAVERKEN A.B. Jan. 19, 1959 [May 21, 1958], No. 1983/59. Class 7(3). [Also in Groups XXVI and XXVIII] A pneumatically actuated pump comprises a differential piston 17, 19 operating in a pump cylinder 18 and a motor cylinder 20 respectively. The cylinder 20 is alternately connected to a pressure air supply and to atmosphere by a valve 22 which is rotated in one direction by a pivoted lever 31 connected to the pistons to cut off the air supply and connect the cylinder 20 to atmosphere at the end of the pressure stroke; at this point a spring loaded pawl 34 engages a ratchet tooth 32 to hold the valve in position against the action of a spring 29. At the end of the return stroke the lever 31 trips the pawl and the spring 29 returns the valve to the position in which the cylinder 20 is connected to the pressure supply. The return stroke is effected by the pressure of liquid on the piston 17 the pump inlet being connected to the outlet of a pump 2. The pump is used to test injectors 13 which are connected to the pump outlet. The motor piston may be pressure operated in both directions or spring returned. The rotary valve may be replaced by a slide valve.
