Abstract
870,601. Sewing machines. SINGER MANUFACTURING CO. June 29, 1959 [June 30, 1958], No. 22266/59. Class 112 [Also in Group XXIV] In a sewing machine the needle driving shaft 20 and the loop-taker driving shaft 14 are driven in opposite directions by a continuous positivedrive belt (see Group XXIV), the outside of the belt passing over a sprocket pulley on one shaft, the inside passing over two idler pulleys disposed on opposite sides of that sprocket and over a sprocket pulley on the other shaft. The idler pulleys 45 are mounted on needle roller bearings on the pins 39 of cranks adjustably rotatable in lugs in the machine frame. The idler pulleys are disposed in a slot provided in the bracket arm 13 and a bridge piece 36 spanning the slot is secured to the bracket arm in both sides of the slot to strengthen the frame.
