Abstract

870,295. Glazing strips. VAUXHALL MOTORS Ltd. Nov. 20, 1959 [Feb. 14, 1959], No. 5217/59. Class 20(3) A rubber or other elastic deformable glazing strip 7 for connecting, e.g., the edges of a pane of glass 14 to the edges of an opening in a metal panel 13, has a pair of channels 5, 6 to receive the panel and glass and are so shaped that the lips 1, 2 and 3, 4 bounding the channels are stressed by the insertion of the panels so that the lips grip the edges of their associated panels and an additional lip 8 is provided and, as the other lips, springs from the centre of the strip 7 and, when the panels are inserted into position the lip 8 presses its tip against the lip 1 to aid the pressure thereof on the metal panel. The lip 8 adjacent its root is separated from the lip 1 by a space 8A sufficient to admit an assembly cord. The strip may be undercut as at 9, 10 opposite the lip 8, to form slits to receive the edges of a decorative metal moulding 15.
