An inclined plate 2, which is air permeable, forms the bottom of a silo 1 and the base 3 of a discharge shoot 4. Air at different pressures is supplied to the chambers 5, 6 below the plate 2 through pipes 8, 9. The material in the silo is loosened by prongs 11 carried by a motor-driveshaft 10.
