Abstract

869,665. Driving generators. WASAGCHEMIE A.G. April 2, 1958 [April 4, 1957], No. 10669/58. Class 35. An electric detonator comprising a generator driven by a mainspring through a gear-wheel is provided with means to prevent rotation of the gear-wheel during winding of the mainspring and to ensure that the gear-wheel is free to rotate during unwinding of the mainspring. The mainspring 7 is wound by a shaft 5 which it counter-rotates when it unwinds. A gearwheel 14 is coupled to the shaft by a pawl 13 and ratchet 12 so that, during winding the rotation of the shaft will not be transmitted to the gear-wheel, but during unwinding it will. An arresting device 15 meshes with the teeth of the gear-wheel during winding to positively prevent rotation thereof, the arresting device being urged into this position by a leaf-spring 52; subsequently, to permit unwinding, it is moved away to position 15<SP>1</SP> to free the gearwheel by manual rotation of shaft 19 carrying a claw 18. A cam 46 blocks the device 15 in each of its positions, this cam being momentarily moved aside at the beginning and completion of the winding and unwinding cycles by an arrangement of gearing and cams (Fig. 3, not shown). The gear-wheel 14 drives the armature 22 of the generator which is provided with contact segments 36 carried on a ring gear 35 and so disposed that they contact bolts 40 connected to terminals 4 and fire the detonator when the generated current reaches its maximum value.
