Abstract

[Also in Group XL (c)] A radar display on the screen of a projection type tube 14 is projected on to a viewing screen consisting of a transparent sheet 10 and a translucent sheet 11 so that markings corresponding to successive target positions and put on sheet 11 by a plotter may be viewed by observers looking in the direction A without the plotter being visible. The marking may be done with a wax pencil and made visible by illuminating sheet 11 by means of a lamp 12. Alternatively, fluorescent ink and a source of ultra-violet light may be employed, the ink being arranged to fade after a limited period. Any radar system providing signals representative of the co-ordinates of the positions of the moving targets may be employed to control the beam deflection of the tube 14. Preferably, however, the arrangement shown, in which an auto-follow system 20 responsive to the outputs from the receiver 19 and from a bearing data transmitter 21 supplies co-ordinate representative voltages to a switching device 27 which controls the beam deflection generators 22, 23 is employed. The transmitter comprises a micro-wave pulse source 16 coupled to the rotating scanning aerial 18 via a duplexer 17. Specifications 867,361 and 867,364 are referred to.
