A hand guided percussive tool comprises a casing, an impact weight reciprocable within the casing, a driver reciprocable within the casing, spring means between the driver and the impact weight for moving the impact weight in the direction of striking and an internal combustion engine interchangeably mounted on the casing for reciprocating the driver. As shown, an internal combustion engine 2 interchangeably mounted on a casing 1 drives through gearing a crank rod 13 connected by a pivot pin 21 to a cover 14 of a sleeve 15 guided in a portion 4 of the casing. The sleeve 15 is closed at end opposite the cover 14 and has two springs 18, 19 between which an axially displaceable impact weight 17 is located. A striker 6 attached to the weight extends through the lower cover of the sleeve 15 and strikes a tool steel 3. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the crank rod is attached to a piston within the sleeve and the latter becomes the impact weight. In another modification, Fig. 3 (not shown) the crank rod is connected by a helical spring to the impact weight which reciprocates in the casing 4. In a further modification, Fig. 4, the crank rod 13 is pivoted to a piston 20 having a piston rod 22 which passes into a hollow sleeve forming the impact weight and is retained by a lower bush 261 which, together with an upper bush 25<SP>1</SP> slides in a bore in the sleeve, the bushes being separated by a spring 271.
