Abstract

866,318. Screw conveyers. NEW CONVEYOR CO. Ltd. Sept. 17, 1959 [Sept. 18, 1958], No. 29860/58. Class 78 (1). Material is discharged from a circular container 4, which has a central aperture in its base and is mounted rotatably on a wheeled carriage 5, by running the carriage into position below one or more screw conveyers 12 mounted below a vertically-movable cross - head 7 mounted on a fixed framework 6 and then starting the motors 11, 14 for lowering the crosshead and rotating the screws, respectively, and the motor for rotating the container. Each screw is of gradually increasing diameter towards the centre of the crosshead. A scraper 15, Fig. 3, adjacent the outer end of each screw, engages the inner surface of the container and a toothed plough 16 disposed at one side of each screw penetrates the material as the container rotates.
