Abstract

866,043. Cable terminations. OKONITE CO. Nov. 5, 1958, No. 35516/58. Class 36. A cable is terminated in an outer tube of porcelain or similar refractory material 2 of larger inside diameter than the outer diameter of the cable 4 by inserting into one end of the tube a press-fit sealing-plug 8 of rubber-like insulating material, such as neoprene, through the central bore of which the cable extends into the tube, and filling the free space with a liquid synthetic resin mixture and a chemical activator which will combine to produce a solid thermoset compound permanently encapsulating the portion of the cable lying within the tube. The resin is preferably an epoxy resin.
