Abstract

865,876. Reciprocating pumps. SCALAMBRA, D., and SCALAMBRA, R. March 11, 1959 [March 15, 1958], No. 8390/59. Class 102(1). In a swash plate pump of the type in which the swash plate is pivoted about a tangential axis and is biased by a spring loaded plunger to maximum inclination so that the stroke of the pistons decreases on increase of pressure, the spring loaded plunger 45 is on the opposite side of the main axis from the pivot 41. The actuating mechanism is separated from the inlet chamber 23 by a plate 27 fitted with bushes 30 through which the pistons pass, so that the mechanism can be lubricated with liquid other than the pumped liquid. The pump is supported in a reservoir 24 so that liquid may pass through a screen 26 and through openings 25 into the inlet chamber 23. The outlet passage 17 has a connection 20 for a by-pass valve. An electric motor may be mounted on the mounting plate 32.
