Abstract
865,225. Batch mixing machines. LUXFORD, N. B., and BENJAMIN ELECTRIC Ltd. Feb. 17, 1958 [May 8, 1957], No. 14627/57. Class 86 [Also in Group XXIII] Apparatus for agitating the contents of a container (e.g. a paint drum) comprises pairs of flanged rollers 20, 21 and 22, 23, Fig. 1, to support containers 24, the rollers of each pair being mounted eccentrically and 180 degrees out of phase on a shaft 15 driven by an electric motor 16 via a reduction gear 17, the arrangement being such that the containers are each rotated and rocked. The motor, shaft and rollers are housed in a framework 10, 11, 12, Fig. 2 and when the containers are in position on the rollers, they are each covered by a closure 27 and the closures can be arranged to control by means of a cam plate 28, a motor switch 29 for the motor 16. The containers are guided vertically by either ball castors 25 or guide blocks 26. Containers of shapes or sizes not suitable to fit the rollers may be clampingly carried in a dummy container of the same size as a container 24. Used containers may be cleaned by agitating a small quantity of cleaning liquid therein.
