Abstract
864,667. Blasting. JACKMAN & CO. Ltd., J. W. Jan. 22, 1960 [Feb. 26, 1959], No. 6695/59. Class 60. Shot, sand and like apparatus comprises a blasting unit electrically controlled to supply air and shot or the like through a hose to a nozzle remote from the blasting unit and remote control means, mounted adjacent to the nozzle, comprising a hand grip having a flexible part whereby, on the application of pressure to the flexible part, control of the blasting unit is effected. Brackets 2, 3 mounted on the hose 26 adjacent to the nozzle 25 carry a hollow rigid hand grip 1 with an opening 4 longitudinally of the underside thereof. Within the grip is a flexible walled cylinder 9, which at one end is secured by a clip to a hollow projection 6 on the bracket 2 and at the other end is secured by a clip to a hollow projection 8 on a disc 7 forming part of the bracket 3. A diaphragm 11 eircumferentially secured by bolts to the disc 7 has a thrust plate 13 biased by a spring 17 and in contact with the plunger 14 of a push button switch 15 connected by wires 19, 20 to a solenoid operated valve in the blasting unit. The cylinder 9 contains water with anti-freeze, a stopper being provided in the projection 6.
