863,958. Cigarette packets. SANDACZ, G. U. Oct. 19, 1959, No. 35376/59. Class 18. A cigarette packet has one of the side walls 13 formed of inner and outer portions 113, 213 the outer wall portion being 213 pivotally connected with the packet so that it may be swung away from the inner wall portion as shown to provide an ash receptacle therebetween. The packet is formed with a lid 10 having a skirt 17 hinged to the back wall 14. The side walls 15, 16 are of double thickness consisting of portions 115, 215, 116, 216 with openings 18, 19 at the front. The outer portion 213 of the front wall is hinged to the lower margin of the box and is provided with a tab 22 for insertion under the skirt 17 of the lid 10 when the ash receptacle is closed, and with side portions 20, 21 which are freely slidable between the respective portions of respective walls 15, 16. The tray thus formed is treated to resist combustion or is lined with foil 23, sufficient slack being allowed in the sides 24 of the foil to permit the receptacle to be closed. In another embodiment the ash receptacle is formed at the rear of the packet, the tab 22 tucking in a slit in the back of the box.
