In a two-part coupling for a coaxial cable a metallic sleeve is positioned between the outer conductor and inner insulation thereof, the outer components of the cable in the region of the metallic sleeve are enclosed by a resiliently deformable sleeve and a two-part tubular assembly accommodates and exerts a compressive force on the deformable sleeve so that the outer conductor and metallic sleeve are forced into firm contact. As shown, a two-part coupling for connecting two coaxial cables, one with an inner axial conductor 11 and the other with an inner axial conductor 65, comprises a male tubular assembly 15, 16, secured to a female assembly by means of a threaded coupling sleeve 72, the conductor 11 being soldered to a contact member 31, 32, 33, 34 received by a contact member 60, 62, 64 soldered to the conductor 65. A coaxial cable 10 comprising the axial conductor 11, inner insulation 12, an outer coaxial conductor 13 which may be of woven or braided copper wire, and external insulation 14 is received by a longitudinal bore 17 in the sleeve 15 which screws into the sleeve 16 and forms an annular recess to accommodate a deformable sleeve 50 and metal end washers 51, 52 enclosing the cable insulation 14 in the region of a metallic sleeve 44 fitted between the outer conductor 13 and the inner insulation 12. The terminal portion 43 of conductor 13 is flared outwardly at right-angles and contacts a flange 45 on the sleeve 44. Relative rotation of the sleeves 15, 16 causes the washers 51, 52 to compress the sleeve 50 and thereby force the conductor 13. and metallic sleeve 44,into firm contact. The contact means for the outer conductor in the female connector assembly may be the same as that in the male connector assembly.
