Abstract
862,793. Planting tools. BOND, A. F. Dec. 23, 1959 [May 27, 1959], No. 18073/59. Class 6(2). A hand-operated, rotary cultivator comprises a shaft 1 provided with a hand grip 4 and a cranked handle 3 at its upper end and a spike 1a at its lower end. Four tines 6 fixed to the lower end of the shaft extend radially outwards from the shaft and have their lower, hooked ends terminating above the level of the spike 1a In use, the spike 1a is driven into the ground to anchor the device, which is then rotated with the aid of the handle 3, the tines being thereby made to cultivate the soil and hook up weeds. In a modification, the cranked handle is U-shaped, with a rotary cap at the top for one hand and a grip in the bend of the U for rotating the device with the other hand.
