Abstract

862,415. Pump motors. KRAEMER, H., and HERR, E. Nov. 26, 1959 [Dec. 1, 1958], No. 40126/59. Class 35. [Also in Group XXVI] In a pump motor the canned rotor 3 is mounted inside a stator bore sleeve 6 which sealed by welding, soldering &c., to the pump housing 9 and to a rear-end bearing cover 8 thus permitting axial withdrawal of the stator (as shown) without opening the liquid seal. The welds are circular and lip-like and may be turned off and rewelded during maintenance. Passages 23, 24 allow the pumped liquid to displace all the air within the sleeve 6 to prevent drying of the bearings. Also liquid passes from these passages, through the air-gap 25, possibly through longitudinal bores in the bearings, and back to the pump through hollow shaft 2. The joint between the pump inlet 20 and housing 9 is sealed by welding at 21 (see Group XXVI).
