Abstract

860,970. Jet looms. SVATY, V., and LIBANSKY, J. May 5, 1958, No. 14263/58. Class 142(2) A weft guide for looms in which picking is effected by a jet of air consists of a comb having teeth 16 shaped to surround the path of the weft. The aperture 20 in each tooth is tapered, being smaller at the side from which the air emerges to reduce loss of air from the jet. Some of the teeth may be of tubular construction with holes around the aperture 20 through which additional air is supplied to maintain the jet. The comb is mounted on the slay in front of the reed and emerges from the underside of the warp at beat-up, a slot 21 enabling it to clear the weft. The comb may be shogged between picks so as to penetrate the warp at different places to obviate cracks in the fabric.
