Abstract

858,963. Electric correspondence control systems. BENDIX CORPORATION, [formerly BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION]. Sept. 6, 1957 [Oct. 25, 1956], No. 28244/57. Class 40 (1). [Also in Group XXVII] The solenoids of internal-combustion engine fuel injection valves 34a. . . 34h are energized through a transformer T and amplifier A for injection periods controlled by a potentiometer 10, varied in accordance with engine operating conditions such as ambient, exhaust, or engine temperature, ambient or induction passage pressure, or relative humidity, which varies the voltage applied to the centre-tap primary 12. The ends of the primary 12 are connected to alternate contacts 20a ... 20h contacted by an engine-driven wiper arm so that the current flows alternately in opposite, directions through the primary sections 12A, 12B, to produce voltage pulses in the secondary 26 of a width dependent upon the setting of potentiometer 10. These pulses, passing through rectifiers 30, 32, render the normally non-conducting transistor amplifier A conductive for the duration of each pulse, thereby energizing whichever solenoid circuit is completed by the wiper arm 24 contacting conducting segments 36a ... 36h connected to the solenoids. Specification 858,961 is referred to.
