An adjustable wrench is provided with quickadjusting means comprising a slide 27, Fig. 1, moveable longitudinally of the handle 201 by at least one cam 29, 3C and interengaged with the slidable jaw 4 through a groove and projection 27<SP>1</SP>, 27<SP>11</SP> The cams 29, 30 are rotated by a disc 32 projecting from the handle and the jaw may be locked in the adjusted position by a thumb screw 25<SP>11</SP>. In a modifi cation the cam 30 may be replaced by a returr spring and the cam 29 is rotated through a rack and pinion device, the rack being slidable longitudinally of the handle.
