Abstract

An alloy having good oxidation resistance and strength at high temperatures has a composition within the following range in per cent by weight: Ti 1-20, Mo 8-20, Cr 1-16, Nb, at least 50, the balance. The alloys may contain one or more of the following elements, Ta, V, Zr up to 10 each and up to 20 total, Al, Co, Fe, Mn, Ni, W up to 5 each and up to 10 total, Be, C, Ce, Si up to 2 each and up to 5 total. The alloys may be used in engines, turbines, chemical equipment and as high temperature dies. The required amounts of the constituents may be sintered to form the alloy or melted under an inert atmosphere in an arc or induction furnace. The cast alloy is subjected to remelting operations to ensure mixing.
