Abstract
The invention comprises a salt of formosulphathiazole (the reaction product of sulphathiazole with formaldehyde) with a divalent metal, and the preparation thereof by reacting sulphathiazole or a salt thereof in a diluent with formaldehyde and a soluble salt of a divalent metal.ALSO:Pharmaceutical compositions comprise a salt of formo-sulphathiazole (the reaction product of sulphathiazole with formaldehyde) with a divalent metal, in admixture with a pharmaceutical organic or inorganic solid or liquid carrier suitable for oral or parenteral administration. The preparations may be in the form of tablets, dragees, salves, creams, solutions, suspensions or emulsions, which may be sterilized and may contain preservatives, stabilizing, wetting or emulsifying agents, salts to vary the osmotic pressure, buffers, or additional therapeutically valuable substances.
