Abstract
857,725. Liquid fuel spray nozzles. LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd., J. June 29, 1959 [July 9, 1958], No. 21989/58. Class 75(1). A liquid fuel spraying nozzle comprises a flexible diaphragm e having a central discharge orifice h, a stationary closure member g against which the diaphragm abuts when no flow occurs, and a centrally apertured cap m forming with the diaphragm e a chamber n in which a stream of swirling air is produced. Pressure of fuel moves the diaphragm e out of contact with the closure member g. The swirling air mixes with the atomized fuel from the orifice h. The closure member g carries an axial stem which extends through the orifice h and terminates in a conical head k adapted to spread the fuel spray. The air enters the body of the nozzle through apertures r and passes from a chamber b through tangential apertures o to the inside of the cap m.
