Class 20(4) [Also in Group XXX] A ferro-concrete beam is separated into two parts 5 by a joint 6 of flexible or elastic material, the joint 6 being perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the beam and located in the local effective zone of a rail 9 or similar member and the parts 5 of the beam, separated by the joint 6, being held together by a reinforcement 8. The joint 6 is made of a flexible or elastic material, such as rubber, synthetic material, copper or other suitable metal. The beam may be held together by reinforcements which may or may not be pre-stressed or the beam may be banded externally.
