Abstract
856,335. Moulding corrugated sheets of asbestos cement &c. SMIDTH & CO. A.S., F. L. Sept. 9, 1959, No. 30835/59. Class 87(2). A flat sheet of asbestos cement or like cementitious material whilst in a plastic condition is transformed into a sheet asymmetrical with respect to the plane of said flat sheet by supporting it horizontally on parallel bars spaced apart and belonging alternatively to one of two systems, moving all the outer bars of the first system towards the central stationary bar and simultaneously raising the bars of the second system to form folds between the areas supported by the first system. Bars or table sections Ar, Br, Al, Bl are spaced on a support 1 on either side of a central stationary section C, and each section has a shoulder portion cut out so that adjacent sections cooperate to form recesses in which are located bars Dr, Dl, Er, El carrying pivots 8. Links F connect the pivots 8 to pivots 7 on sections Ar, Br, Al, Bl and rods 12 attached at one end to pins 11 on disc 10, engage pins 13 on end sections Al, Ar so that a slight turn of the disc first moves sections Al, Ar inwardly and raises bars Dr, Dl, then moves sections Bl, Br inwardly and raises bars El, Er forming altogether four folds in the asbestos cement sheet 6 which may be finished and removed by a vacuum member having a co-operating surface, Fig. 6 (not shown). Alternative mechanisms for the movement of the bar systems are depicted in Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown).
