Class 20(2) An adjustable joist comprises a rectangular section tube 1 with a central longitudinal partition 4 which forms two compartments, in each of which a tube 3 can be clamped at any desired extension by wing nuts 2 threaded on bolts secured to the tubes 3 and passing through slots 5 in the tube 1. Two joists can be joined end to end by inserting the tubes 3 into the compartments of the adjacent joist. The joist may support floor shuttering or be used as a temporary framework.
