Abstract

854,143. Friction hinges. CRITTALL MANUFACTURING CO. Ltd. May 7, 1959 [May 7, 1958], No. 14669/58. Class 65(2). A friction hinge comprises a leaf 1 for attachment to a casement window, a leaf 2 for attachment to the fixed frame, and a clevis-like member 6 connected to the leaf 2 and embracing the end of the leaf 1 on the hinge pin 3. The member 6 is notched at 7 for connection with the leaf 2, and between the arms of the member and the leaf 1 is a pair of washers 8 coupled together by a bridge piece 9 which passes through a hole 12 in the leaf 1 so that the washers are non-rotatably locked thereto. In a modification the bridge piece 9 is located outside the leaf 1, each washer having a crimped portion located in a slot in the leaf.
