Abstract

n-Heptyl, n-octyl and 2-ethylhexyl chloroformates are made by adding n-heptyl, n-octyl or 2-ethythexyl alcohols respectively to an excess of phosgene.ALSO:The invention comprises red dyestuffs of the formula: <FORM:0854098/IV (c)/1> where X is a methyl, ethyl, betamethoxyethyl or betaethoxyethyl group and Y is an alkyl group of 4 to 8 carbon atoms or a cyclohexyl group, and a process for making them by condensing a compound of the formula: <FORM:0854098/IV (c)/2> with a haloformic acid ester of the formula: <FORM:0854098/IV (c)/3> where Z is chlorine or bromine. The dyestuffs dye polyester and cellulose ester textile materials directly from aqueous dispersion. 1 : 4- Diamino-2-b - methoxyethoxy- orethoxyethoxyanthraquinone is made by heating 1- amino- 4- p-toluenesulphonamido-anthraquinone -2- sulphonic acid in a melt of potassium hydroxide with ethylene glycol, monomethyl or mono-ethyl ether.
