853,845. Milling; milling-cutters. LAMBERT BRAKE CORPORATION. Nov. 19, 1956 [Oct. 17, 1956], No. 35340/56. Class 83 (3). [Also in Group XXXIV] A double-fluted cutting- tool comprises two parallel flat-faces 60, 62, and two lands 70, 72, the lands having straight cutting- edges tapering to a point, preceded by circular arcuate portions I centred on the tool axis. The lands are relieved at an angle of 10 to 13 degrees. Several such tools are used in a machine having a rotatable work-holder 16, movable axially for producing recesses 78, Fig. 5, in brake discs 76, such as are described in Specification 583,108. Movements of the work are controlled by a fluid cylinder 20 and cam means 24. Fluid cylinders 32, 34, raise and lower a tool head 26. The machine is similar to that described in Specification 843,685. The cutter is sharpened by grinding the flat faces 60, 62.
