Abstract
853,446. Differential gear. TATRA NARODNI PODNIK. July 15, 1958 [Aug. 20, 1957], No. 22707/58. Class 80 (2). A bevel differential gear on a motor vehicle is automatically locked above a predetermined speed (15-20 r.p.m.) of relative rotation between its output members 3, 4 by oil pumped by the gear teeth through non-return suction and delivery valves 20, 21 the latter of which automatically close at a predetermined oil pressure. As shown, the valves 20, 21 are in ducts 19 leading to individual pressure and suction spaces, two of each for each planet, formed by radial parts 18 of an inner member 11 shrouding the gear teeth. The valves 20, 21 may be held open by springs or centrifugal force. A sealed fluid space inside the member 11 may be filled through a plug 17. In Fig. 4 (not shown) there are two valves only, common to all the suction and pressure passages, and arranged axially.
