An electric discharge tube, particularly a lamp, has an electrode 1 connected by a lead to lead sheafed H.T. cable 3. The connection between this is protected a waterproof sleeve of resilient plastic material 4 which envelopes part of the lead and the discharge tube envelope. Particular materials of the member 4 are polyvinylchloride, polyethlyene, synthetic rubber or neoprene. Prior use of glass caps packed with insulating compound is referred to.
