Abstract

A gas cylinder (10) with a valve (11) is positioned by an actuator (110) and a label (20e) is carried by a positioning head (350) axially aligned with the cylinder and lowered to be fixed as a collar around the valve (11). A feeding device (300) allows a single label to be removed from a batch (311) and positioned (20d) on a pan (340) to allow it to be picked up by the head (350) movable from its cylinder-aligned position. Advantageously, the apparatus further comprises a fixing tool (450) ensuring that a cap (30a) is placed on the valve 11 of the cylinder (10) which was previously centred by the head (350). Movement of the fixing tool (450) to cylinder-alignment occurs with movement of the head (350) to pick up a label (20e).. The head has a conical bore for surrounding the valve (11) and holds the label by suction. <IMAGE>
