Abstract
850,604. Machine-tool details. REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT. June 28, 1957 [July 6, 1956], No. 20568/57. Class 83 (3). [Also in Group XXX] A device for transferring a workpiece P from one station to another comprises means 9 for moving the workpiece horizontally to an intermediate station, means 4 for lifting and rotating the workpiece about a vertical axis, and means for depositing the workpiece at the final station. A cylinder-block P is delivered from one machine-tool by a turret device 3, to a gripping means 9, reeprocated by a fluid-pressure jack 10 driving, through a rack-and-pinion 12, an eccentric 13, a connecting-rod 14, and an oscillating link 17. The gripping means includes two arms 26 which can be swung outwardly to engage bores 33 in the block P, which rests on rails 34. The block may be lifted by a device 4 having four supporting-dogs 38 on rods 35 which can be rotated simultaneously by an hydraulic ram 43 acting through a linkage. A spring-pressed cam 44 on the device urges the block laterally against a locating-pad 48. A further such cam urges the block longitudinally against another locating-pad. Spring-pressed plates 51 urge the block against the dogs 38. Cams 53, 54, on two of the rods 35 actuate switches to control the degree of rotation of the rods. The lifting-device 4 is mounted on a slide 65, which can be moved along rods 66 by a screw 67 rotated by a motor 68. The device can furthermore be swung about a pivot 61 by a projecting rod 62 engaging fixed rods 63, 64, and can also be moved vertically by rack-andpinion gearing rotated by a motor 75 through a shaft 71. In operation, a block is delivered from one machine-tool and rotated by 180 degrees about a horizontal axis by the turret device 3. The gripping-means are advanced to grip the block and then retracted, drawing the block to the left until fixed stops 31 engage rollers 28 on the arms 26, causing the block to be released. The lifting-device is then lowered, the dogs 38 rotated, and the block lifted. When the block has been raised, the slide 65 is traversed to the left, the block being rotated about a vertical axis as the arm 62 encounters the rods 63, 64. When the block is directly above a work-holding pallet M, it is lowered and deposited thereon, ready to enter a further machine-tool.
