Abstract
Polyolefins, particularly polypropylene or polyethylene, are crosslinked by subjecting them to high energy irradiation of a dose of 1 x 106 to 1 x 108 rep in the presence of a chlorobenzene, particularly mono- or a di-chlorobenzene. The process may be applied to the polymers themselves or to polymers containing fillers such as carbon black, silica xerogels or aerogels, fumed silicas, hydrophobic silicas, calcium silicate, titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, calcium carbonate, magnesium carbonate, alumina, clay or glass.ALSO:Polyolefines, particularly polypropylene or polyethylene, are cross-linked by subjecting them to high energy irradiation of a dose of 1 X 106 to 1 X 108 rep in the presence of a chlorobenzene, particularly mono- or a dichlorobenzene. The process may be applied to the polymers themselves or to polymers containing fillers such as carbon black, silica xerogels or alrogels, fumed silicas, hydrophobic silicas, calcium silicate, titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, calcium carbonate, magnesium carbonate, alumina, clay or glass.
