Abstract
848,863. Thermal switches. BUSCHJAEGER DURENER METALLWERKE A.G. Sept. 17, 1958 [Sept. 18, 1957], No. 29760/58. Class 38 (5). [Also in Group XIII] A thermostat for the heating unit of an appliance such as an electric cooker or oven, comprises a temperature-sensing element filled with fluid and a switch adapted to be actuated in response to pressure variations in the fluid due to temperature variations, a manually adjustable pressure-regulator being adapted to control the operating temperature of the switch through the medium of the fluid. In one form, Fig. 2, a capillary tube 6 filled with fluid is enlarged at 12 adjacent a hot-plate which is to be controlled, one end of the tube being connected with a chamber 7, one wall of which is formed by a diaphragm adjustable by a screw 10 to set the operating temperature. The other end of tube 6 is connected to a compartment 1 of a switch 2, one wall of the compartment being formed by a diaphragm 4 carrying a contact-bridge urged upwards by a spring 11. In another form (Fig. 1, not shown), the enlarged portion 12 is dispensed with and the switch is placed adjacent the hotplate so that the compartment 1 serves as the sensing element.
