Abstract

847,873. Walking aids. ECROYD, J. W. April 17, 1959 [April 25, 1958], No. 13146/58. Class 132(1). A walking aid comprises a metal frame having side members carrying arm rests and handles at the top and resting on arcuate supporting members so that the appliance can rock in a fore and aft direction. As shown, each side member is made up of two upright tubes 1, 2 connected at their upper ends by a tube 3 their lower ends being connected to a rocker 7, the two rockers 7 being connected by a cross-member 8. Each tube 3 carries an arm rest at its rear and a hand grip at its front end and the two tubes 3 are connected by a tube 6. Rocking is limited by lugs 9 at the front ends of rockers 7. The centres of curvature of the supporting members are above the centre of gravity of the user.
