847,659. Automatic fluid level control systems. ROBERTSHAW-FULTON CONTROLS CO. Nov. 14, 1956 [Dec. 21, 1955], No. 34782/56. Class 38 (4). [Also in Group XXXVI] In apparatus wherein a capacitive probe 11 Fig. 1, controls an R.F. oscillator in accordance with the level 18 of fluid in a container 12, the oscillator is contained in a housing 10 mounted inside the container 12. The apparatus 14 for controlling the admission of fluid to the container is connected by a cable 22 carrying only low-frequency currents. As shown, Fig. 2, the valve 26 oscillates when the capacity 52 between the probe and the container falls below a certain value, as determined by the parameters of the bridge circuit comprising the tapped inductance 38 and condensers 51, 54, i.e. when the level is correspondingly low. The anodecathode current in valve 26 which is controlled by rectified grid current thus falls, to release the anode relay 72 thereby closing contacts 86 for energizing the pump 16. Failure of the valve also causes pump 16 to operate so that the container cannot be emptied. Specification 773,982 is referred to.
