Abstract

847,313. Grinding. DECKEL, H., and DECKEL, F. W. June 23, 1958 [Sept. 13, 1957], No. 19994/58. Class 60. A machine tool comprises means 11 mounted on a spindle 9 for guiding a holder 111 for a tool, such as a grinding wheel 36, transversely of the axis of rotation of the spindle, means 112 for clamping the holder in an adjusted position, and cooperating stop means 114, 116 provided on the tool holder and guide means to prevent the tool holder from being thrown out of its guide means if the clamping means are not tightened. The guide 11, which may be arranged to have a radial feed imparted to it from a control disc during rotation and axial movement of the spindle so as to grind a conical bore, has guide-ways 11a for the tool holder 111 which is clampable in an adjusted position by a screw 112. A plurality of stops 114 are arranged in a row on the guide 11 and cooperate with the stop-pin 116 which is mounted on the holder and spring-urged towards the guide; during adjustment of the holder, the pin 116 is pulled out of alignment with the stops 114. The guide has further pins 118, 122.which cooperate with a pin 120 on the holder to prevent incorrect fitting of the holder to the guide and movement to a position wherein the pin 116 has moved pastthe last of the stops.
