Abstract

845,424. Automatic registration control systems. ST. REGIS PAPER CO. Oct. 22, 1956 [Nov. 7, 1955], No. 7907/59. Divided out of 845,423. Class 38 (4). In multiply bag tube manufacturing apparatus as described in Specification 845,423 in which a plurality of webs are fed to primary working means, comprising perforations 39 and pasters 40, tube forming means 38 and secondary working means comprising cutters 63 and separator rolls 64 and in which a selected phase relationship is maintained between signals produced in photo-cell 107, responsive to printed indicia on one web and signals produced by switch 108 operated by the perforators 39, means are provided for introducing a speed correction in the primary and secondary working means in response to a cumulative corrected phase error between the signals. The two signals are compared in the phase comparator circuit 107a to which are connected the stepping switches 153 and 156, switch 153 senses " retard " impulses and when a selected number have accumulated a timer 154 is actuated for a preset number of seconds during which time the motor 155 is energized in a direction which adjusts the control wheel 118 of the variable-speed device 106 to compensate for the accumulated error. Similarly switch 156 and timer 157 operate from " advance " impulses. The device 106 is driven from the main motor 94 and its output 117 is connected to the auxiliary differentials 103 and 114 which via the main differentials 98 and 110 control the rate of operation of the working means.
