Abstract
845,323. Valves. HOSKINS, S. W., and I.V. PRESSURE CONTROLLERS Ltd. Oct. 27, 1958 [Nov. 26, 1957], No. 36867/57. Class 135. A manually operable valve for preventing flow from an inlet 1 to an outlet 3 comprises an axially movable plunger-type valve member 7 coaxial with and co-operable with a toroidal sealing. ring seat 8. In the open position (shown) a spring-loaded tubular guard 23 covers the seating ring 8 and in the closed position of the valve a retaining ring 10 having limited axial movement is engaged by a shoulder on the valve member to force the seating ring into tighter contact with the closure part of the valve member.
