845,026. Skirting boards. SORENSEN, C. May 24, 1957, No. 16580/57. Class 20(4) A pliable; profiled, synthetic plastic board 4 particularly for skirting walls, bordering floors, clamping skirting, cavetto for laying linoleum or ornamentation for rooms and furniture, is coated with adhesive 6 for fixing. The board 4 made of polyvinyl chloride, acrylic glass or similar thermoplastic polymerization product, has several transversely spaced longitudinal slots 5 on its vertical contact surface which are downwardly inclined and filled with the adhesive 6 and increases in thickness from the top to the base so that the slots have correspondingly increased depths. The adhesive 6 such as hardened bitumastic caoutchouc is in a dry condition. The base part 7 of the board 4 is tapered outwardly so that the bottom back edge 9 is clear of the edge 3 between floor 1 and wall 2 and the forward free end presses flexibly on the floor. A V-shaped groove 10 at the upper end of the board 4 serves to receive any adhesive excess on fixing the board and a rib 11 is provided on the outer face to act as a guide for a press-on roller machine. In mounting, the board is warmed by passing it through an electric heater which forms part of the machine, the adhesive 6 being converted to a pasty, viscous state. The vertical side 4a of the board is kept upright so that the adhesive will remain in the downwardly inclined slots 5, and is pressed against the wall 2 so that it will bind thereto on cooling and subsequent hardening of the adhesive. The board 4 is pliable and may be coiled in rolls and led around corners without cutting.
