Class 116 [Also in Group XIII] In a dispenser for cooled beverages which comprises a vessel 1 of transparent or translucent material closed at its lower side by a metal plate 3 in close contact with a coil 8 through which a refrigerant is circulated, the liquid in the vessel 1 is agitated by a pump 14 in a circulating system which withdraws liquid from the vessel through pipe 17 and returns it thereto through a downwardly bent pipe 18 arranged to direct a stream of liquid across the plate 3 in a direction to set the liquid in the vessel into rotary motion, the dispensing cock or tap 19 being connected to the pipe 18 of the circulating system. The stream of liquid from the pipe 18, after flowing over the plate 3, is deflected upwards by the wall of the vessel 1 to set up a vertical flow in the body of liquid in addition to the rotary flow. The refrigerating coil 8 is sealed at 10 by bitumen and surrounded on its lower side by heat insulating material 11 such as kapok, glass wool or cork granules. The vessel 1 is supported by a frame 6 within which is contained a motor-driven compressortype refrigerator unit 7, controlled by a thermostat 12, and the pump 14 with its driving motor, the stand being enclosed by a sheet metal casing 21 inside which lamps 22 for illuminating the vessel are disposed, the upper end of casing 21 being preferably sealed to the vessel 1 to prevent entry of spilt liquid. The outer edge of the plate 3 is flanged to collect condensation from the outside of vessel 1 which is returned through drain pipes 23 to a drip tray 25, a second drip tray 26 collecting condensation from an additional evaporater coil 28.
