843,357. Circuits employing bistable magnetic elements. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO. Ltd. June 24, 1958 [Aug. 29, 1957], No. 27237/57. Class 40 (9). [Also in Group XIX] Transfer of information between the magnetic cores of a shift register is delayed until the shift pulse ends. An auxiliary core X normally biased to a 1 state is driven to 0 during each negative shift pulse, (a) Fig. 2, on terminal P and produces a voltage pulse, (b) Fig. 2, across condenser 3. This biasing voltage is connected across condenser AB2, rectifier AB3 and input winding B1 of core B and across rectifiers in the input circuits of other cores C &c. Condenser AB2, which is charged only when a shift pulse changes cam A from state 1 to 0, discharges through input winding B1 of core B when the bias is removed at the end of the shift pulse. If there are no condensers in the circuits linking the cores, the output winding X2 of the auxiliary core X, Fig. 4, is shunted by a resistor 6. Alternatively (Fig. 5, not shown), the winding may be shunted by a condenser and a resistor in series. In another arrangement, Fig. 6, the output winding PX2 of one core PX is shunted by a resistor 6 and the output winding QX2 of a second core QX is shunted by a condenser 3, the bias voltage being taken across the condenser and resistor in series.
