Abstract
The Specification comprises tertiary alkyl cyclopentadienes of the formula <FORM:0842673/IV(b)/1> where each R1, R11 and R111 is an alkyl group preferably containing not more than 8 carbon atoms each. They may be prepared either (a) by reaction of a cyclopentadienyl magnesium or zinc halide with a tertiary alkyl halide, or (b) by reaction of dicyclopentadienyl magnesium or manganese with a tertiary alkyl halide. Inert diluents or solvents may be used such as diethyl ether, di-n-butyl ether or tetrahydrofuran.
