Abstract

842,238. Valves. RECHERCHES ETUDES PRODUCTION R.E.P. Aug. 25, 1958 [Aug. 28, 1957], No. 27166/58. Class 135. An electromagnetically-operated valve intended for use particularly with accelerationresponsive devices on automobile vehicles to interrupt the application of hydraulic braking pressure before excessive deceleration of the vehicle produces an undesirable skid and to restore this pressure once the excessive deceleration has ceased, comprises an electromagnetic solenoid 3 and a core 6 mounted therein, a valve body 16, two rings 29, 30 let into a bore in the valve body with a spacing member 31 therebetween, two valve seatings formed in the opposed internal faces of the rings, inlet and exhaust fluid connections 17, 19 respectively to the bore of each ring and a third, fluid utilization, connection 18 to the space between the rings, a ball valve 28 movable between the two rings, a push-rod 9 actuated by the core 6 of the solenoid and adapted to act on the ball valve and a spring 32 urging the ball valve against the action of the push-rod. The movement of the push-rod required to operate the ball valve is arranged to be small in relation to the diameter of this ball valve. The solenoid core 6 works in a sealed chamber which communicates past the plunger 9 with the exhaust connection 19.
