Abstract

841,655. Cartons for bottles. JEKEL, W. J. A. April 3, 1958 [April 6, 1957], No. 10873/58. Class 18. In bottle cartons having rectangular projections on a horizontal plate for centering the bottle bases, the projections consist of hollow members 14<SP>1</SP>-25<SP>1</SP> folded from e.g. cardboard and mounted on a plate 13<SP>1</SP> with an open side towards the plate. In one embodiment, these members are made from blanks as in Fig. 8, and pressed up through openings, defined as in Fig. 6, in the plate 131 which may form part of the box, these openings having lips 32 which are glued to the sides of the projections. The openings and the projection blanks may be of various shapes. Preferably the method of manufacture comprises the following steps : punching rectangular holes in a cardboard sheet, incising projection blanks in a second cardboard sheet, placing both sheets with holes and blanks registered into a die, pressing the blanks into the required shape and the required holes by means of a further die ; the plates 13<SP>1</SP> can then be placed in the bottom, and if required, at the top, of the cartons.
