841,390. Mechanical garages; vehicle lifts. MANNHEIMER MASCHINENFABRIK, MOHR - FEDERHAFF A.G. Nov. 26, 1957 No. 36771/57. Classes 78 (3) and 78 (4). A tower 1 carrying an elevator for use in a multi-storey garage is suspended from a movable carriage 5 by a single pivot 6, and a lower carriage 8 may be adjustably mounted on springs to take a predetermined part of the weight of the tower. Lateral guiding of the tower is by flanges on the wheels 10 and/or rollers with vertical axes on the carriages or on the tower sides, co-operating with fixed rails in the garage building. The carriages are separately driven electrically and may be independently stopped by switches located near the top and bottom of the tower co-operating with fixed members in known manner. Any deviation of the tower from the vertical is transmitted through an adjustable link 22 to a lever 24, 25 and hence to a cam 26 controlling a switch 27 in the motor circuit in such a way that the tower is restored to the vertical when it stops. A damper may restrain swinging movement of the tower.
