Abstract

An epoxy-resin mix for bonding end caps to a tubular filter element comprises 40 parts by weight of resin, 48 parts of aluminium powder acting as filler, 8 parts of an aliphatic amine hardener, 17 parts of a combustion inhibitor sold under the Registered Trade Mark "Ceraclor," assisted by 2 parts of antimony trioxide. The Specification also refers to other fillers, e.g. metal powder, chalk and asbestos.ALSO:End caps are bonded to a tubular filter element e.g. of paper, felt or wire gauze and which may be folded to provide longitudinally extending radial pleats by embedding the tube ends in an epoxy-resin mix which serves to seal them to the end caps. The latter may be of plate or annular form and of metal, or cardboard. The resin mix (see Group IV(a)) includes a hardener, filler and a fireproofing compound.
