Abstract

840,397. Snap-action switches. CLARK. C. W. July 10, 1957, No. 21863/57. Class 38 (5), A switch actuated by a finger lever 10 pivoted in the switch casing, is characterized in that the said lever 10 is provided with a spherical torus 13 in the region where it passes through the lid, and the said lid is composed at least partly of two plates 2 and 14 joined together and each provided with an aperture so that the edge 16 of the aperture of the outer plate 14 bears against the outer part of the torus 13 whilst the edge 17 of the aperture in the inner plate 2 bears against the inner part of the torus 13, an annular recess being formed by the two plates to hold a sealing- ring 18 which may be of rubber, and the lever 10 being provided with flattened surfaces to cooperate with an elongated slot in a dome-shaped projection 19 on the lid plate 14. Thus the lever 10 cannot be rotated around its longitudinal axis nor rocked in any other direction than that in which it operates the contact-carrying rocker member 7 which is arranged in a similar manner to that disclosed in Specification 748,691. The lever 10 has an axial bore in which a hollow plunger 11 can slide against the action of a coil-spring 12 accommodated in the bore and the plunger 11. Specification 840,396 also is referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 748,691 and 748,748.
