Abstract
840,237. Electrical circuit assembly; bending posts; terminal boards. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. Nov. 28, 1958 [Dec. 3, 1957], No. 37591/57. Classes 37 and 38 (1). An electrical circuit is manufactured by forming a series of co-planar hairpin loops in a length of wire, and mounting the length of wire on an insulated support by passing the loops through holes in the support to form terminals, at least one of which is bent over, to which component leads may be connected. In the embodiment described with reference to Fig. 1, coplanar hairpin loops 4 are formed in the wire 1, and the end portions are then bent down perpendicular to the plane to form the terminals 3. An insulated board 5 is pierced with holes 6, the spacing of the holes corresponding to that of the terminals which are then pushed through the holes. Further lengths of wire may be produced in a similar manner and may be arranged parallel to each other on the board or may extend to part of their length in one direction and then be bent through an angle. Component leads may be connected to the terminal by binding with thin wire (Fig. 3), clenching the terminals round the wire (Fig. 4) or by inserting the lead in the hole with the terminal and soldering (Fig. 5).
